Veterans’ Day Events
The Chandler Area Chamber of Commerce would like to take a moment to thank all of the Veterans in our community. We appreciate your contribution, sacrifice, and service to your community, state, and country. We are extremely proud of you.
Our Veterans Day committee is comprised of members from the Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Matheny-Burt-Parrott Post #64, and Chandler Public Schools. It is our honor to plan the annual events for our Veterans each year.
After several socially distanced meetings and a few tears, the committee decided not to have the traditional events to honor our Veterans.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, students are not allowed to have assemblies. Because of this, they were unable to put together their normal salute to our Veterans and those currently serving in our Armed Forces. This program is a large part of the regular tribute to our Veterans.
We did not want to ask our Veterans to assemble for our typical parade or luncheon (for close to 200 participants) because of the close quarters of the vehicles we use and in the American Legion building. This was for the safety of our precious Veterans and their families.
We will never forget the Veterans that fought for the freedoms that we have today or those who continue to serve, but we will not put you or the public at risk.
Some of our local businesses have stepped up this year and have decorated to honor our Veterans. We hope they continue to do this in the years to come.
It is our sincere hope that, once we weather this storm, we will be able to gather as a community to properly observe Veterans Day 2021.
